To Do List:
1) Venue:
a) Scout out a Park with a playground
b) Make sure you have a big enough lawn
2) Cake:
a) Find a Bakery that will make a cake in the Shape of a Book
b) Follow directions below on how to make a Book Cake
3) Invites:
a) Make invitations that fold up to make a book
b) Put on the invite that the presents are to keep with the theme of Books
c) Make an invite list to keep up with who RSVPs
d) Send out invites one week before the party (any earlier and the invite gets lost)
4) Party entertainment:
a) Find some books that fit your Child’s level
b) Figure out if you know anyone that is great at Reading children’s books
c) If having party outside buy a picnic blanket to have the story portion on
5) Party Favors:
a) Get books from the 99Cent Store
b) Have the kids make their own books with stickers and crayons
c) OR Have goodie bags with Book related goodies
6) Decorations: (this step is cheap)
a) Go to you nearest 99Cent or Dollar Store and get plates and napkins in your child’s favorite color
b) Don’t forget a big birthday sign
Directions for a Book Cake:
1) Ingredients:
a) Generic Cake: Follow directions on the box
b) Frosting
c) Food Coloring
d) Cake Mate Black Gel Decorations
e) Candles
2) Putting the Book together:
a) When the Cake is cooled take out of the pan carefully
b) Take the Frosting out of the container and proceed to follow the directions on the food coloring box to get the preferred coloring of your Frosting.
c) Apply the Frosting on the cake
f) Use the Cake Mate Black Gel Decorations to draw the outlines of a book on the cake
g) Write your “Happy Birthday” with the Cake Mate Black Gel Decorations
Directions for Invitations:
1) Supplies
a) Paper (plain or decorated)
b) Computer
c) Printer
2) Putting Invitations together
a) Use Microsoft Word or something similar
b) Use the Birthday Card Template
c) Fill out all the information you want the parents to have
d) At bottom of invite put the following: “ Presents: Bring Favorite Childhood book”
e) An Idea is to also register your child at Amazon.com so the parents can see what books your child would like
